Universal Accounting Recommends Tax Preparers Study Up for Pending Regulations
Expected IRS regulations for tax preparers signal time for continuing education
Salt Lake City, August 20, 2009 — Universal Accounting®, the nation’s largest training center for accounting, bookkeeping and tax preparation with its Profit Expert™ Programs, recommends professional tax preparers invest in continuing education programs now to prepare for expected government regulations. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is expected to make recommendations about regulating tax preparers by the end of 2009, which may include new required testing, continuing education programs, and a system to track tax preparers.
Universal Accounting has been following issues related to tax preparer regulation for years and recent public hearings hosted by the IRS indicate that new rules and regulations are coming. In response to pending tax preparer regulation, Universal Accounting released its new and updated Professional Tax Preparer Program in 2009, which provides the latest complete training and support materials to individuals wanting to provide professional tax preparation services, and for existing professionals seeking to prepare for new government testing.
QUOTE “If you are a professional tax preparer, now is the time to study to ensure new government regulations do not negatively impact your business,” said Allen Bostrom, CPA, Universal Accounting CEO, and author of popular business books In the Black, Nine Principles to Make Your Business More Profitable, and Red to Black in 30 Days. “Advanced tax software is an invaluable tool for today’s tax preparer, but these same tools may also make testing a daunting challenge for those who rely on software for formulas, ratios and tax forms specifics.”
In addition to Universal Accounting’s Professional Tax Preparer Program, tax preparers can attend the 2009 Universal Accounting Conference, Nov. 2-3, 2009 in Las Vegas for updated discussions about the future of tax preparation services.

Universal Accounting attended the most recent IRS forum discussion about tax preparer regulation in Washington DC on July 30, 2009. Universal Accounting plans to attend the next IRS public forum Sept. 2 in Washington D.C. which will include a panel discussion involving government officials and will be moderated by IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman.
