I'm new to great plains, so apologies in advance if any of the questions are stupid!
We have been asked to write a web-front end for payables transactions approval system. The original system is Great Plains Dynamics based, and our web-based system is going to be either JSP or ASP. We will need to retrieve inserted payables transaction, and also insert new ones. I've tried tracing ODBC for finding out the SQL statements for that but I'm not sure if it's the safest way, since there's multiple trans tables and validations and all involved. I've been trying to find out about eConnect but there seems to be no real technical documentation about it on the net! Does anyone know where I can check out eConnect technical docs and see if it's of any use to us.
The second question is in regards to GP OLE attachments. It seems that GP saves attached notes to transaction into an OLE file and reads them in its own container app. Does any one know the format of this file, and how can we insert objects into it programmatically? I've tried reading it in VB and VC using ReadFromFile and likes of that, but it says the format is wrong. Can't read back saved OLE files from VB in GP either. Does anyone have any details about this?
