Swiss Hospital Stephanshorn Selects AnyDoc®Patient Records™ to Manage Medical Files Quickly and Efficiently

ZUG, Switzerland — January 26, 2010 — AnyDoc Software, a leading provider of automated classification and document and data capture software announces the private Swiss hospital Stephanshorn has selected the healthcare solution AnyDoc®Patient Records™. The hospital will use the software to automatically classify patient records, capture data, and archive the images. Stephanshorn will save time and reduce costs and storage space, while simultaneously improving patient service and document security.

Manually processing more than 50 different document types poses an enormous challenge for Stephanshorn and incurs high costs. AnyDoc Patient Records will solve this problem by digitizing and automatically classifying documents and data. AnyDoc Patient Records identifies each incoming document, indexes it, and automatically files it to the proper patient record. During this process, the captured data is synchronized with the available patient database. Next, the solution easily and securely delivers the classified documents including the index information to the archiving system. AnyDoc Patient Records reduces document and data retrieval time and allows fast access to required patient data.

Already familiar with AnyDoc Software from their use of OCR for AnyDoc® to automatically capture and process data from their documents, Stephanshorn was looking to enhance the process even further. They wanted to eliminate the need to manually find and copy each requested document from its paper archive, then manually distribute it to the appropriate medical personnel. With the AnyDoc Patient Records solution in place, each document will only be a mouse-click away. The hospital information system has direct access to the archiving system.

AnyDoc Patient Records, however classifies each document within the record automatically.”

Depending on the duration of the hospital stay, a patient record can easily contain several dozen pages. In larger hospitals with numerous associated specialized clinics, an automated solution often must distinguish between several thousand document types and classify patient records with more than 100 pages each. With the classification of the documents inside the patient record, specialists and management can—depending on their authorization level—find the required document immediately without wasting time searching through a complete record.
Stephanshorn Hospital was founded more than 30 years ago and now has 85 beds in 53 rooms. In 2008, its 250 employees treated almost 6,300 patients and generated revenue of approximately 42 million Euros.

The AnyDoc Patient Records implementation will begin running in one care unit of Stephanshorn, and the remaining care units will follow sequentially. All patient records including internal and external documents will be available to authorized users at any time.
