DEXTER + CHANEY’S FOREFRONT® CLIMBS TO SECOND OVERALL—

SEATTLE, June 11, 2002: Forefront® Construction Management Software from Dexter + Chaney placed a solid second in usage—among 125 construction-accounting software packages—in the recently released “2002 Information Technology Survey for the Construction Industry” by the industry group Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). Significantly, Dexter + Chaney also placed first in the “Service Management” category.

Forefront climbed five places (from seventh in the previous survey, in 2000) to finish second behind Timberline’s Gold Collection in the Overall, Heavy/Highway and Specialty Subcontractor accounting-software categories. The products were ranked solely according to the number of construction-company users of each product.

Dexter + Chaney was the first choice among respondents (25 percent) that are using or planning to use service management software—the first time that the Service Management category was included in the survey. Timberline Service Management was second (18 percent), and the next-highest firm scored 9 percent.

The biennial survey, conducted by a subcommittee of CFMA’s Technology Committee, was targeted to a select list of contractors nationwide. A total of 1,251 construction firms responded, divided into three groups by type of work: Heavy/Highway (including H/H, utility and bridge), Specialty Subcontractor (electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC) and General Construction.

Among the survey results:
· in the “Overall” category, 11 percent of respondents used Forefront (compared to 28 percent for Timberline Gold). No other product recorded more than 5 percent usage.
· among Heavy-Highway contractors, Forefront recorded 15 percent (to Timberline’s 24 percent). The next highest product was 10 percent.
· in the Specialty Contractor category, Forefront recorded 14 percent (to Timberline’s 24 percent). No other product was above 5 percent.
