DEXTER + CHANEY’S FOREFRONT HELPS TAFT ELECTRIC’S PROJECT MANAGERS GET MORE INVOLVED

Ventura CA-based Taft Electric, wanted his company’s project managers to become “more involved” with the profitability of their jobs. He figured integrated construction-management software—offering quick, easy access to job cost, work order, time and materials and other information in a single package—would help his project managers make better-informed decisions.

Marsh and Taft Electric chose Dexter + Chaney’s ForefrontÒ Construction Management Software over Timberline and other competitors’ products following a rigorous software review process. Forefront replaces construction management software that Taft installed in 1999.

“My main criteria was to get our project managers more involved,” said Marsh. “Since Forefront is fully integrated, our project managers have easy access to all the information that they need—work order, labor, materials, subcontractors and everything else that affects a job’s profitability. Accessing that information directly—rather than working through our office staff—is critical.”

Taft Electric’s 250 employees serve commercial, industrial and government customers throughout Southern California from its Ventura office and satellite offices in Solvang and Thousand Oaks. Clients include the University of California Santa Barbara, Amgen, Imation and The Adventist Hospital Group.

they need to important documents like AP invoices, change orders, payroll timecards, contracts and others. More than 2,500 total users nationwide already make use of Forefront Document Imaging.

Taft Electric plans to add Forefront’s Human Resources, Project Management and Remote-Link modules in the future.
